AGROKOR AND THE CROATIAN HANDBALL ASSOCIATION SIGN SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT

The President of the Agrokor Group Ivica Todorić and the President of the Pool of the men's national handball team Dr. Dragan Kovačević signed a Sponsorship Agreement in Zagreb today. By the Agreement signed Agrokor has become sponsor general of the men's national handball team for the time of the world handball championship to be held in Portugal from January 18 - February 2, 2003, as well as for the period of three months thereafter. Both sides have recognized the common interest and the motive for the linkage. By the Sponsorship Agreement the men's national handball team has gained a strong support and ensured good conditions for as good as possible preparations and the best possible performance at the World Championship in Portugal, and the Agrokor Group has provided for the promotion of its name on the national team's uniforms as well as on all official materials in circulation during the time of the preparations and the Championship itself. Agrokor as the largest private Company in Croatia uses part of its profits to support, besides its own development, also the development of sports, thus contributing to the overall development of the society and proving once again to be highly aware of its own social responsibility. This year, amongst others, Agrokor allocated a significant part of its marketing budget to the support of top-line sports, where the Croatian national handball team certainly has a place of its own. Handball is one of those Croatian sports that has won the most trophies, the biggest success of the Croatian national handball team and at the same time the biggest Croatian success in team sports being the winning of the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. After winning this and a series of other significant trophies, a change of generations took place, and the new, young national team already won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia in 2001, thus already announcing great successes that we expect in Portugal as well.
