The Agrokor Concern opened a new Distribution center today, during a ceremony held in Žitnjak, Zagreb. The Distribution center is the largest of its kind in Croatia and this part of Europe. Agrokor invested 75 million German Marks into this project, by which the total amount of Agrokor's investments made during the last five years exceeds 1.5 billion Kunas. Agrokor's Distribution center has at its disposal 38,000 square meters of storage space with four separate temperature regimes; 90 in-storage vehicles and 80 transportation vehicles and the latest IT equipment for the logistics- and distribution-related operations. 550 jobs have been created for employees receiving special training. Within the process of developing their distribution network of small stores, markets and supermarkets, during the course of last year Agrokor and Konzum started constructing the new Distribution center, modeled after similar modern centers of the kind in the world, with the purpose of increasing their business competitiveness as well as improving the performance of domestic trade in general. The implementation of the IT technology at all levels of Agrokor's Distribution center's business activities will result in a significant decrease in costs as well as in an increase in the efficiency of the processes of procurement and distribution. Thanks to all of the above, their end-customers will have an opportunity of purchasing goods in Croatia at more favorable prices. Agrokor's Distribution center will be supplying over 8500 products to the network of Konzum's retail stores, but also to the networks of other store-chains, small-size shops, the public sector and the tourism and catering industry throughout the greater Zagreb area. The Distribution center operates in such a way that its customers have an on-line connection with the Center, from which goods are delivered directly to their stores or warehouses, depending on their needs and preferences. Goods are delivered within 24 hours upon order, while fruit and vegetables are delivered twice a day. The percentage of orders delivered will reach the remarkably high 98%. By doing so, the customers will get the opportunity to decrease their own storage space, stock and funds needed. The Distribution center will be offering additional services to small businesses, related to their increasing sales (interior decoration, placement of goods on the shelves and more), aiming towards developing their business activities and increasing their business performance.
