Among 101 competitors the Graševina of Belje pronounced the best

At the first Festival of Graševina Wines held between 19-27 May 2007 in Kutjevo, organised by theAssociation of Wine-producers, Wine-growers and Fruit-growers the top quality wine sort of Graševina produced in the Podrumi Belje (wine-cellars) was pronounced theChampion of the Festival.
Not less than 101 samples of the best dry and predicate Graševina wine sorts from all the wine-growing hills in Slavonia, Međimurje and the County of Zagreb applied for the evaluation held within the Festival. The members of the evaluation committee were the best connoisseurs of Graševina, wine experts and wine producers from the whole of the continental part of Croatia, who pronounced the top-quality dry Graševina wine sort of Podrumi Belje the CHAMPION OF THE FESTIVAL. At the ceremony the award was presented to Mr Ivan Škorić, General Manager of Belje.
At the ceremony Mr Ivan Škorić pointed out that the vintage of 2006 was a golden vintage for Belje because the wines were of extremely high quality, which was confirmed by the awarded three gold medals and the title of the champion. The participation of Agrokor in the ownership of Podrumi Belje resulted in an upturn of the Belje wines comprising the quality improvement, the packaging design and a high ranking of its products. Since the wines – vintage 2006 are ready for bottling, all the wine fans will soon have the opportunity to enjoy the Champion Graševina and other wine sorts of Podrumi Belje. At the awarding ceremony of prizes and champion pronouncing of Graševina wine sorts held in Kutjevo it was again pointed out that Graševina as a wine sort is quite spreaded and makes up 70% of the total assortment of white wines in the continental parts of Croatia. In addition, it is the mostly sold wine and an important export product, which gives to the champion title a specific significance.
