Belje opened the first registered ecological animal waste disposal centre in Slavonia and BaranjaBelje Agro-vet d.o.o has today presented the first registered animal waste disposal centre in Slavonia and Baranja. The waste disposal centre is a result of the Project of responsible disposal of animal waste, in which the amount of 2 mil HRK has been invested. It satisfies the highest zoo-hygienic and ecological criteria and has been adjusted to the practice in the EU. One of the most important issues in the cattle and processing industry is a disposal of dead animals and animal waste as a result of the production process, which is necessary according to the legislation and appropriate management practice. Such a process of waste disposal and management proves the awareness of the importance of environmental protection as well as better veterinary control and prevention, which results in improvement of health protection of people and animals.

Belje opened the first registered ecological animal waste disposal centre in Slavonia and BaranjaThe collection of animal waste is carried out by specialised vehicles which transport the waste to the waste disposal centre, where it is classified into categories, cooled down and temporarily stored. The waste disposal centre consists of a cooling chamber where animal waste is temporarily stored with a possibility to regulate temperature, 25 storage rooms for various waste categories, a dissection room and toilet facilities. Depending on the quantities, waste is daily or weekly transported by specialised trucks to the rendering plant of Agroproteinka in Sesvetski Kraljevec, which is the only processor of slaughter house and other waste of animal origin in Croatia.

Belje opened the first registered ecological animal waste disposal centre in Slavonia and BaranjaThe collection and disposal of animal waste is not going to be used for the cattle and processing industry within Belje d.d. only, but will be on disposal to the cattle producers on the territory of Slavonia and Baranja, including the disposal of expired meat in store chains and animal disposal of other meat processors. The entire Project comprises a good and responsible management practice in agricultural production and introduction of the integrated system of environmental management according to the ISO regulations 14001:2004, which once again proves the good policy of environmental management of Agrokor.
