Cooperation Agreement between Wine Academy, Agrokor Vina, Belgian Sommelier School and Adriatic Croatian Wines
Feb 09, 2010
A cooperation agreement was signed today between the Wine Academy, Agrokor vina d.o.o., the Ter Duinen sommelier school of Belgium, and AC Wines, importer and distributor of Croatian wines for the Benelux area. Belgian government attaché Antonio Garcia attended the event. The agreement was signed by Đuro Horvat, director of Agrokor vina, Lothior Frans, representative of Ter Duinen, and Kristofer de Sterck, executive director of AC Wines. The signing of the agreement and the presentation of a selection of Croatian wines was attended not only by the signatories and Antonio Garcia, economic and commercial attaché of the Belgian government, but also by around 20 sommeliers from Belgium. The “Ter Duinen” school is the oldest and most renowned sommelier school in the Benelux region. Most of the top restaurateurs in these countries are graduates of this school, which has a worldwide reputation and a long tradition of service to the Belgian royal family. The Wine Academy will take advantage of this cooperation to introduce Croatian wines to the Belgian market, the most famous world destination for the launch of new wines. Cooperation between the Belgian sommeliers, who were invited by AC-WINES (Adriatic Croatian WINES), importer and distributor of Croatian wines for the Benelux region, and the Wine Academy will enable better promotion of Croatian wines in Belgium. The Wine Academy was founded in late 2009 with the mission of upgrading dining culture as part of general culture and as a meeting place for wine aficionados. By establishing the Wine Academy, Agrokor vina d.o.o., the leader in the Croatian wine business, took over the extremely important task of promoting Croatia as a winemaking country and of educating consumers.
