The national handball team going through medical check-ups before the Olympics in Rio

The Croatian national handball team is now preparing for the journey to the Olympics in Rio, the preparations officially started off in Polyclinic Aviva, which is where all the team members will go through basic medical check-ups. Polyclinic AVIVA and the Croatian Olympic Committee presented today the Croatian Olympic handball team for Rio 2016 and the Polyclinic AVIVA as the official health organization supporting Croatian Olympians. The occasion was used to socialize with the media and to present the Olympic team and their preparation plan. 

Slaven Janečić, the director of  AVIVA Polyclinic thanked the Croatian Olympic Committee for their trust and pointed out that our athletes will have at their service a team of high profile medical doctors and other top notch professionals working in AVIVA. He stressed that routine medical check-ups are of extreme importance not only for athletes, but for the general population as well as it’s a step closer to maintain good health and timely detect any and all malignancies.

"We are pleased that we are partners of the Croatian Olympic athletes, and we are especially honored to host our handball players that have been making us so proud by winning so many medals for us. We believe that after these Olympics we will also be very proud. Above all we wish them a lot of safety and health. “- concluded Slaven Janečić, the director of AVIVA.

Zlatko Mateša, the president of the Croatian Olympic Committee expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the COC and the Polyclinic AVIVA which is where the health of the large Croatian "Olympic family" is catered for. In fact, he pointed out that so far 67 Croatian athletes representing 13 sports during the selection procedure acquired the right to participate at the Olympic Games in Rio, however more are expected. Routine check-ups are the basis for all the efforts that await our Olympians of which, as he pointed out, this time as well, we expect they will bring us joy by winning many medals.

The preparation plan for the Croatian handball team at the Olympics in Rio was presented by Tomislav Grahovac, the President of the Croatian Handball Association, the handball team selector Željko Babić and team captain Marko Kopljar.

Tomislav Grahovac, the president of the Croatian Handball Association announced the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio, thanked the COC and the Polyclinic AVIVA and all those who support the Croatian handball team and revealed its expectations for the upcoming Olympic tournament.

The selector Željko Babić revealed a list of 21 players who are chosen to come to the first phase of preparation which the team will be doing from 15 to 19 June in Sv. Martin na Muri. Together with the list of players, selector Babić has announced a plan for the preparation of the Croatian men's national team prior to the Olympics.
