The experts of the prestigious world competition awarded the first place to Ol Istria
Ol Istria, Agrolaguna’s extra virgin olive oil won the first place award in the Medium Intensity Extra Virgin Olive Oil category at the second international Extra Virgin Olive Oil World Championship competition, held this year in New York. The particularity of this competition is that the producers cannot apply individually. The organizers carry out a pre-selection of the oils that get their final grade after the invitation to the competition. The pre-selection is carried out in accordance with the rules made by the International Olive Oil Council. Besides the laboratory analysis in a certified laboratory, organoleptic analysis is also performed and the final evaluation is carried out at the location of the finals. This year the finals were held in New York and last year they took place in Shanghai. The evaluation is performed by the judging panel, specially trained for grading olive oils. On this year's competition, the pre-selection process included 150 oils from all continents and 40 oils entered the finals. The supreme quality of the Ol Istria extra virgin olive oil is obtained from a healthy high-quality fruit, manual harvesting, cold processing procedure within 24 hours, preserving the oil in stainless steel barrels without air at the temperature of 18°C, and bottle filling based on strict technological conditions. The oil produced in such way is rich in nutritionally valuable elements and has a strong aromatic touch. Each drop of this extra virgin olive oil blends the centuries-old tradition with the most contemporary agricultural technique and technology of production – which is confirmed by ISO 9001 and HACCP certificates.
