Goldberg chardonnay champion at Vino Slovenija competition
Goldberg chardonnay was declared the champion while Goldberg frankovka won the gold medal for quality
Vina Belje had a very successful appearance at the 41st open national wine competition Vino Slovenija, held at Gornja Radgona. In the white wine category Goldberg chardonnay from 2013 vintage was declared the champion, and the gold medal for quality was awarded to Goldberg frankovka from 2012.
Winemakers from entire Central Europe participated in this competition where three more Belje wines received silver medal awards: Vrhunska graševina and Goldberg graševina from 2013 as well as Goldberg merlot from 2012.
Vino Slovenija is the most prestigious Slovenian wine competition with a 40 year long tradition and Vina Belje will receive further promotion among Slovenian connoisseurs after such succesful results.
The awarded wines from the Goldberg line are made from hand-picked grapes, selected in different stages of maturity and grown only on the best positions in Belje vineyards. The rich and specific taste of these wines is achieved by using only high quality grapes and aging in wooden barrels made from Slavonian oak, while the entire process is monitored and aided by modern technology. White Goldberg wines, graševina and chardonnay, are aged for at least four months in wooden barrels, while the red Goldberg wines, merlot and frankovka are aged for a minimum of 18 months.
These awarded medals are a continuation of a series of successful results Vina Belje achieved in domestic and international fairs and competitions this year, as well as indication of quality and continuity that Vina Belje proudly presents to international consumers.
