The centre for sustainable agricultural production of Belje "IN LINE WITH NATURE" presents integration of business activity and environmental protection in the area of Kopački rit
Today in the Nature Park Kopački rit, the largest company in Baranja "Belje" opened the Centre for sustainable agricultural production "IN LINE WITH NATURE". This project is a follow-up of good cooperation between JUPP Kopački rit and Belje, showing once again that an excellent coupling of business activity and environmental protection is possible. At the grazing lands in Rit not only is particular care paid to materials and construction methods but also a wooden bridge has been built over the canal, a reed-covered bower, horse corals and tables and benches for taking a break and enjoying the view over more than five hundred cattle grazing freely.
Hereford stock, having an excellent maternal instinct and bearing life in the open well throughout the year, make up the bulk of the herd. The particularity of the project "IN LINE WITH NATURE" is the care of the herd of 8 Podolian cattle from Slavonia and Srijem which are an indigenous breed quite rare in Croatia. As Mrs Biserka Vištica, manager of the the Nature park "Kopački rit", underlined, "IN LINE WITH NATURE" is a combination of environmental, tourist and educational centre holding a prominent position in the resort of Kopački rit.
Mr Krešimir Kuterovac, executive manager of cattle-raising production in Agrokor and project leader, emphasized: "Sustainable production is a day-to-day task for our company, which is the leader in agricultural production. Particular attention is paid to environmental protection and maintenance of biological diversity, coordinated crop farming and cattle-breeding, and the preservation of natural resources and biological diversity. We would like to take it as an example of exploiting agricultural resources and creating new values out of them even under the conditions of intensive environmental care."
The centre for sustainable agricultural production "IN LINE WITH NATURE" is open to the public, so we would like to invite everybody, not only visitors to Kopački rit, to stop on their way to Sakadaš at the Eblin canal where they can take a break in the countryside and see the almost extinct breed of the Podolian cattle from Slavonija and Srijem.
