This prize is awarded every even year at the INPAK Fair that has been taking place on the border between four countries (Slovenia, Austria, Croatia and Hungary) in Gornja Radgona since 2008, and this year the prize was awarded for the 33rd time. The AGRA Agricultural Fair also took place during that period. All products that participated on the Slovenian Oscar for Packaging competition were exhibited on a special exhibition as a part of these two fairs.
The purpose of this competition is to evaluate and award the most successful packaging of all typesand the award is given under the sponsorship of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. The Slovenian Oscar for Packaging is regarded as a prestigious acknowledgement in Slovenia that is given to packaging producers, designers, innovators and authors of technical improvements in the field of packaging in Slovenia and abroad. During the evaluation of packaging, the jury primarily considered the authenticity and innovativeness of packaging, content protection, ecological criterium, practicality of use, product safety and hygiene improvement, aesthetics, market communication and harmony between the product and packaging. The Evaluation Rules are in accordance with the national and European regulations and with the Rules on Handling Packaging and Packaging Waste and they meet the conditions of the "WORLD STAR FOR PACKAGING" competition.
