Sep 01, 2007
Mr Milan Bandić, Mayor of Zagreb, and Mr Josip Zaher, President of the Konzum Management Board, today opened the tenth and eleventh playground, out of 17 planned in the campaign Let's Bring Playgrounds Back to Children, in the city districts of Novi Zagreb and Knežija. A total of 11 new playgrounds have been opened so far in Zagreb Districts in the joint project between Konzum and the City of Zagreb. Nine playgrounds were opened before the two opened today near Super Konzum Črnomerec, Luka-Sesvete primary school, Ciglenica Park – Trešnjevka, Markuševec primary school, Jabukovac Park in Tuškanac, near Brezovica primary school, in Otokar Keršovani Square in Maksimir, and in Kapucinska and Dubečka Streets. The aim of the project is to ensure a quality, safe and carefree childhood environment for the youngest residents of Zagreb. The project is now entering its final stage with all 17 playgrounds due to be opened by mid-September this year.
With the opening of the renovated playground in Vruljice Park in Zadar, Konzum has spread the campaign Let's Bring Playgrounds Back to Children to other Croatian towns. At the beginning of the new school year, Konzum has continued organising merry Saturday events called "Merry Saturdays" at the newly opened playgrounds aimed at introducing playgrounds to the neighbourhood children.
