Mercator academies – an investment in future

Two new academies started with classes at the Faculty of Economy in Ljubljana - Management Academy and Business academy for Mercator employees with recognized future potential. These are employees with knowledge, abilities and potential to become top experts in their fields, as well as managers that can contribute to the growth and development of the company with their knowledge.

The purpose and goal of this education project is to create a system that contributes to personal and professional employee development and employees that finish this education will have the opportunity to reach leading positions in the company in the future. The program itself has 8 modules and includes 128 hours of lectures oriented on “hands on experience”. It is focused on the development and strengthening of managerial and special competences. It aims to introduce participants with the art of leadership, to encourage them to develop expert knowledge and inner strength, independence and confidence, as well as to increase awareness that their ideas and energy are constructive in contributing to the development of the company. There are 16 participants in the Management Academy and 22 in the Business Academy.

Experts from Mercator, including Toni Balažič, CEO of Mercator and Drago Kavšek, Member of the Management Board will hold lectures for students of both academies, alongside experts from Faculty of Economics of Ljubljana Univesity and lecturers from abroad.

The dean of Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, prof. dr. Metka Tekavčič addressed the participants at the program opening ceremony.
