May 21, 2007
Up to now 5 out of 17 new children playgrounds have been opened
Mr Milan Bandić, Mayor of the City of Zagreb and Mr Josip Zaher, President of the Konzum Management Board have today officially opened two new playgrounds in the Ciglenica Park in Trešnjevka and at the Otokar Keršovan Square. After the opening of three playgrounds within Konzum Črnomerec, the primary school of Luka Sesvete and the primary school of Markuševec, the districts of Trešnjevka North and Maksimir have got their playgrounds too. These two openings represent a continuation of the Project initiated by Konzum and the City of Zagreb"Let's get back playgrounds to children", the goal of which is to ensure in each of 17 districts of Zagreb a quality playground as a place where children can spend their spare time with peers in a carefree play. Besides Konzum and Agrokor, as initiators and investors of the Project"Let's get back playgrounds to children" as well as the City of Zagreb, which provided the city areas for construction of the playgrounds, the other participants of the Project are the Zrinjevac Company, which provides all the horticultural works and the Regoč Company, which supplies equipment and toys for the playgrounds. The next playgrounds to be opened will be situated near the primary schools of Brezovica and Tuškanac. At the beginning of the new school year all the districts of Zagreb are expected to have a new playground with a high quality equipment.
The concept of each playground in the Project"Let's get back playgrounds to children" is adjusted to the specific needs of children, citizens and their surroundings. The playground within the Ciglenica Park will be used by more than 8,360 children, who live in the district Trešnjevka North. The gyms in this Park are placed around the existing fountain and are to be used by the children of different ages and motorical abilities as well as the children with specific needs. A swing, a large carrousel with seats, a house with a slide, two swings on the strings provide to children in this town district a quality play with their peers.
The playground on the Otokar Keršovani Square has a multi-purpose playing equipment, a carrousel, gyms for the children between 1-3 years old, swings with nests for the children with specific needs, seesaws with three swings on strings with animal features. The district of Maksimir, where this playground has been opened, has more than 7,353 children, which now have a new quality location for playing and spending time with their friends.
These gyms will enable to children active and diverse plays through a number of activities in safe conditions. Under all the gyms on this and other playgrounds included in the Project"Let's get back playgrounds to children" there is an obligatory safe zone, that is a special anti-traumatic mat, which lessens the intensity of possible falls or injuries of children. The mat was for the first time introduced in Croatia by Konzum in co-operation with the Regoč Company within this Project. All the equipment is produced according to the highest standards and safety norms, top quality, design and is environmentally friendly.
