The President of the Agrokor Group Ivica Todorić and the President of the Croatian Handball Association Željko Kavran signed a Sponsorship Agreement in Zagreb today. By this Agreement Agrokor has become Sponsor General of the national men's handball team for a period of two years. Both parties have recognized their mutual interest and the motive to establish a cooperation. The Sponsorship Agreement has provided the Croatian national men's handball team with a strong support, while enabling the Agrokor Group to promote its name on the national team's shirts. By signing this Agreement, the cooperation that had started during the World Handball Championship in Portugal where the men's national handball team achieved an outstanding result, has been continued. Through its connection with handball Agrokor wants to emphasize its commitment to invest into young people and into positive common values, handball being one of those sports to strongly contribute to the country's image and at the same time a sport that brings together a large number of young people and creates an atmosphere for the development of true values at their most sensitive age. As the biggest private company in Croatia, Agrokor has proved to have developed a sense and awareness of its social responsibility, not being a company whose only aim is to raise turnover and generate profits, aware that it has to make a contribution to the develepment of other social segments as well. Agrokor has therefore again invested exceptional funds into the development of science, education, culture, but also into a number of sports activities this year. On the occasion of signing the Agreement Željko Kavran, the President of the Croatian Handball Association said: "The Croatian Handball Association is the most successful national Association in Croatia and it is an exceptional honor that it was Agrokor to recognize the successes of Croatian handball and become our Sponsor General. Now it is our turn to justify the confidence placed in us by our results and to present both the Agrokor Group and the Croatian handball as the best worldwide." Handball is among those Croatian sports to have won most trophies. The greatest successes of the Croatian national handball team certainly are the third place at the European Championship in Portugal in 1994, the second place at the World Championship on Iceland in 1995, winning the gold medal at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tunesia in 2001 and the gold medal at the World Championship in Portugal in 2003.
