PIK Vrbovec and Belje at the 14th Hong Kong Food Festival


New markets and export growth

PIK Vrbovec and Belje have finished the year by showcasing its meat products at the Hong Kong Food Festival 2016 that took place from 24th to 28th December. In the meat product category, PIK Vrbovec presented for the first time the traditional products in their sliced version: PIK Kulen, Rustika, Rustika with walnuts and with truffles, Kulenova seka and Baranja Kulen with the mark of quality for the protected geographical indication. PIK Vrbovec exports to the CEFTA markets, as well as to over 15 EU countries such as Italy, Romania, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Austria, with the foreign market share in total sales in 2016 amounting to 19 percent.   

The 14th Hong Kong Food Festival that lasted for five days gathered renowned manufacturers from around the world and had over 1.25 million visitors. This traditional fair was the first time the Croatian producers presented its authentic products to the Asian market since Hong Kong is the starting point towards the Chinese and Pacific markets. 

“In recent years, PIK Vrbovec has focused on export, especially to EU and other markets outside the region, with the share of sales on foreign markets in 2016 amounting to 19 percent. As PIK is already exporting several meat categories to Hong Kong, this festival was an excellent opportunity for PIK Vrbovec to present its meat products. PIK’s quality and innovation in production of both meat products and fresh meat have also been recognized on foreign markets and we believe that participating at this fair shall contribute to further business expansion on the Asian market that is, for us, particularly interesting and challenging”, said Boris Cvetković, Export Director in PIK Vrbovec.     

“Baranja Kulen and Kulenova Seka are products of rich tradition and top quality produced according to traditional recipes of the old masters. It is such authentic products that are our unique products which we present on export markets around the world. We find Asian markets especially interesting since they favor spicy food and products from top quality pork meat as Baranja Kulen” said Ivica Starčević, Sales, Marketing and Tourism Director in Belje.
